Bacteriophage

Background

Bacteriophage are viruses which specifically infect bacteria and represent an attractive alternative to antibiotics. Bacterial infections such as MRSA present a significant problem due to its increasing resistance to mainstream antibiotics and hence a bacteriophage solution would provide a specific and effective alternative against such infections. Numeration of bacteriophage, as well as assessment of the state of aggregation, are key parameters prior to clinical use of a bacteriophage preparation.
